The Village Inn: A Walk Down Sarnia’s Memory Lane
Before the clocktower welcomed guests at 751 Christina Street North, locals knew this address simply as the Village Inn—the friendly stop where a quick bite turned into a lingering visit and where staff learned your name before your second coffee. In a town shaped by river trade and road travel, the Village Inn carried forward a tradition older than Sarnia itself: inns as gathering places where news was swapped, plans were made, and community took root. As travel modernized, the Village Inn rode the wave of the motor-inn era, serving road-trippers, hockey families, and cross-border visitors headed for the bridge. Local histories even note that the 402 Motor Inn operated here “formerly the Village Inn,” a reminder that names may change, but a good welcome never does.
